Small World Music Presents
YOSHIDA BROTHERS
Superstars in their native Japan, young Tsugaru-shamisen virtuosos Ryoichiro and Kenichi Yoshida have effected nothing short of a cultural revolution with a muscular reinvention of the ancient three-stringed instrument, giving it the fiery passion of a rock 'n roll guitar.
By coaxing startlingly vivid sounds out of their timeless instruments, they have reinvigorated Tsugaru-shamisen for a new generation, incorporating elements of jazz, American folk, pop, Latin music, blues and more into their unique musical tapestry.

Billy Bragg in Concert
Harbourfront Centre, in partnership with Toronto Downtown Jazz (TDJ) and The Other Operation present legendary UK singer-songwriter Billy Bragg!
Considered "a national treasure" in his native England, Billy Bragg has long been a cult hero in North America, releasing celebrated solo records and recording with everyone from Wilco to Less Than Jake. In his two and a half decades of carrying the torch, Bragg has melded the folksy populism of Woody Guthrie with the anger and indignation of the Clash, and both are perfectly encapsulated on his Anti-Records debut Mr. Love and Justice.
With the opening track "I Keep Faith", Bragg’s songs of social justice never lose sight of the power of personal relationships- the ones that can hold us together and bring about the kind of redemption that outstrips even the greatest political movements. Mr. Love and Justice is classic Bragg: mercilessly perceptive, yet hauntingly personal in the manner of their storytelling.
Mr. Love and Justice will be released on April 22.
