| Living Spaces: 21 Contemporary Canadian Homes An exhibition celebrating the best in Canadian home design! at Harbourfront Centre (235 Queens Quay West) May 20 to July 10, 2005 (Opening reception May 19 at Harbourfront Centre - 7 to 9 p.m.) Information: 416-973-4000 or www.harbourfrontcentre.com TORONTO, May 12, 2005-Harbourfront Centre presents Living Spaces: 21 Contemporary Canadian Homes (May 20 to July 10) - an exceptional exhibition that selects and surveys acclaimed homes (through photographs, drawings, models and video) from across the country as a way to celebrate and acknowledge the best in current Canadian architectural design. Some of these homes (designed by some of Canada's foremost architects) have been featured in Saturday Night and Toronto Life magazines while one Toronto home received a 2004 OAA Award of Excellence (Ontario Association of Architects). Admission to the exhibition and reception is free. (Opening reception May 19 at Harbourfront Centre - 6 to 9 p.m.) A DVD video tour of selected homes, hi-res jpegs and a colour catalogue are available for media upon request. Home is important for Canadians as a place for rest, for sharing lives with friends and relations or for working and eating. Each living space is a snapshot of the solutions that designers have devised to enhance our lives. Each home in this exhibition illustrates a distinct response to their unique environment in addition to factors like complicated building sites, budgets and a growing concern for safeguarding the environment. The homes in this exhibition were selected by curators John Ota, Christine Macy, Marco Polo and David Theodore. This exhibition is circulated by Cambridge Galleries, Ontario.
